Study-break insight #1

1) Introverts go the coffee shop; extroverts go to the bar.

a) The coffee shop provides community, which satisfies the introvert's longing to be known. But the coffee shop prohibits conversation, which satisfies the introvert's longing to be alone.

b) The bar provides community, which satisfies the extrovert's longing to be known. But the bar requires conversation, which satiates the extrovert's fear of being alone.

thank you for your insights, joe haack. this is the only one i will comment on b/c it's the only one i really get. ha. Of interest, Schub and I are both extroverts. I love to go to a coffee shop to read/study because of the almost constant low murmur of conversation. It keeps me comfortable b/c I know I'm around people and even though I'm not participating in the conversation, I can hear it in the background. Schub hates going to a coffee shop to study b/c of the constant low murmur of conversation. His extrovertness can't stand not stopping to listen or join in. of course, I don't think your insights were necessarily about studying. they were about where one goes to satisfy their extravert/introvert-ness. it just made me think of that.
