Coffee never tasted better. I have recently bought a french press, which is coffee-snobese for "good coffee." It extracts all the rich oils and flavors from the bean. So if you are a purist--and I know there are some of you out there--this is the one and only way to actually taste and appreciate the bean, and therefore experience the variety of farming, roasting, and geography. Here is how to use one, if you are unfamiliar. Also, if you are in the mood for tea, it can serve as a great loose-leaf tea diffuser.

looks like a modern version of the tin pot on an open fire under the prairie stars...all you need is a harmonica, Joe.
If you had asked me yesterday to compile a list of people i thought likely to buy a french press and then blog pictures of it, praises about it, and instructions for it... I probably would have placed you near the top, my friend.
Glad to hear that you've found a way to harness the volatile oils and aromas in your mug while avoiding the unnecessary acidity that often creeps through a simple filter. All for the sake of a more dynamic, complex cup o' joe.
I hope you're well, my friend. Know that you are thought of often. Unfortunately, it sounds like you'll be in St. Louis before I return in August... regardless, I hope that we can see other again soon.
I'm glad to you see you enjoy french pressed coffee. I do too. In fact, it's my most consistent habit, I think. I grind beans every morning in an old hand mill. ...I'm fond of the habit, and the coffee.
that sounds so Garrison Kieller-esque
