when glossolalia and pop-culture collide
oh dear. I just recieved an email today from my good buddy Mike Harvey. He is living in Prague. He also is changing the world (see previous post). Anyway, along with his email came a link to a new clothing company. Oh man. You have to see it to beleive it. Pentecostal pop-culture, wow. Speaking in tongues has never been so sexy.

the hyphenated syllables = what it sounds like when one is "speaking in tongues." Remember when we studied the book of acts, and the holy spirit busted on to the scene for the first time? There are many who beleive that the New Testament Pentecost experience of the apostles is still alive and well today...some assert it is a crucial element of actual saving faith. They say: if you dont pray like that, you dont have the holy spirit in you. Other folks are really low key about it--you would never know they prayed that way. Others are really opposed to the whole idea and think it is pure emotionalism and assert that like prophecy it was a special gift for the time. I personally have never heard a person pray in tongues...and until know have never seen holy-spirit utterances printed on t-shirts.

I opened some blogs tonight for the first time. Catching up on my friend's lives in a voyeristic fashion feels pretty weird.
