just passing through

one pilgrim's progress
the name of this page is sojourner. there is something more captivating with that word than it's synonym: pilgrim. They both are loaded with meaning--but one is more beautiful maybe? regardless, i am currently reading john bunyan's pilgrim's progress. this is a book that i have attempted to read many times before, but never have quite made it past the mountain: this is the place christian drops his scroll. i have never read further. well, once again, here i go. when i was a highschooler, our english teacher used to hang this book over our heads for punishment. behave badly, read pilgrim's progress. so, there is also probably something deep within that is telling me the book is boring, slow, and irrelevant. it is actually really good--again. well, up to the mountain at least. this book is an apt reminder that we are truly passing through: every thought, every act of love, every word should be affected by this.

I actually just finished Pilgrim's Progress. I really want to read C.S. Lewis' Pilgrim's Regress now. One of my favorite Bunyan quotes from PP is, "The bitter must come before the sweet, and that also will make the sweet the sweeter."
